The Irving Independent School District seeks a Dyslexia Specialist to support the district's dyslexia program by coaching interventionists, developing and sustaining the instructional program and services, and ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal mandates across campuses.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and valid Texas Teaching Certificate; Certified Academic Language Therapist or Licensed Dyslexia Therapist is preferred, along with Special Education Certification.
Job Title: Dyslexia Specialist. Reports to: Dyslexia Coordinator. Department: Special Education. Pay Grade: Teacher Schedule. Work Calendar: 187 Days + 8. Funding Source: Dyslexia Allotment.
Primary Purpose: The Dyslexia Specialist assists the coordinator in improving the district dyslexia program by coaching and mentoring interventionists and specialists, developing and supporting the instructional program and service delivery, and ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal mandates.

Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in‑district and occasional in‑state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
