Job summary

Highland Community School in Oakland is seeking an Early Literacy Reading Tutor for 6 hours per day. The tutor will support TK–2 students with evidence-based literacy instruction, using progress data to guide interventions and adjust instruction.

This role collaborates with classroom staff and coaches to meet literacy targets. Responsibilities include scheduling, data entry, and participation in ongoing literacy trainings; prior experience with literacy programs is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Fluent English (speaking, reading and writing).
• Computer skills including basic database use.
• Energetic, results-oriented, student-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend SEEDS of Early Literacy Training and SIPPS sessions throughout the year.
• Provide data-driven literacy instruction and interventions for TK–2 students.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher Coach or Principal to set schedules and monitor progress.
• Implement scripted literacy interventions daily in small groups or one-on-one.
• Record student performance data weekly in an online database or Excel.
