Job summary

Middlebury College's Summer German School seeks a temporary Instructor of German for the 2022 session on the Vermont campus. You will teach German language and culture in an immersive setting, reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in German while living and learning with students.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in German studies or related field, native or near-native German, and at least two years of higher-education teaching experience in the United States.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in German Studies or German Applied Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition by June 2022
• Native or near-native proficiency in German
• Formal training in second language pedagogy and teaching
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching German language and culture at all levels
• At least two years of experience teaching at a higher education institution in the United States
• ABDs will be considered under certain circumstances

Responsibilities

• Teach German language and culture to students in a summer program
• Engage in daily classroom instruction conducted in German
• Foster an immersive language environment through reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in German
