Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking compassionate substitute teachers to support classrooms when regular teachers are absent. The role focuses on consistency and student well-being within the school community.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining routines, supervising students, and communicating with staff and families. Pay is $165 per day for individuals with a Bachelor's degree; hours vary by assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with groups of children is desired.
• Ability to work with various levels of students is required.
• Substitute teacher experience is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and meet MPCS training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the front office upon arrival at the school.
• Reviews the lesson plans and schedules to be followed during the school day.
• Ensures all materials are ready and prepared for instruction.
• Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teaches the lesson plans outlined by the regular classroom teacher to facilitate appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch and in other activity periods.
• Maintains maximum supervision of assigned students at all times.
• Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Communicates and interacts with students, staff, parents, and the community as necessary.
• Maintains appropriate records in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
