Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a Substitute Teacher - Non-Degreed to support classrooms when the regular teacher is unavailable. The role calls for a compassionate, dependable individual who can provide consistency and guidance to students throughout the day.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, the ability to work with students at varying levels, and a commitment to respectful, nondiscriminatory classroom management. Compensation is $150 per day, and hours vary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with groups of children preferred.
• Ability to work with students at various levels.
• Previous substitute teacher experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the front office upon arrival at the school.
• Reviews the lesson plans and schedules to be followed during the school day.
• Ensures all materials are ready and prepared for instruction.
• Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teaches the lesson plans outlined by the regular classroom teacher to facilitate appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch and in other activity periods.
• Maintains maximum supervision of assigned students at all times.
• Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Communicates and interacts with students, staff, parents, and the community as necessary.
• Maintains appropriate records in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
