Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 to substitute Pre-K–6 and 21 for grades 7–12.
• Must possess a high school diploma.
• Must have teaching capabilities in all areas and follow oral and written directions.
• Must establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Must maintain effective classroom management strategies.
• Pass an employee background check.
• Associate degree or above preferred.
• Prior substitute/volunteer/educational experience preferred.
• Must attend orientation to school policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans left by the permanent teacher.
• Demonstrate basic teaching capabilities in all subject areas.
• Demonstrate excellent communications skills.
• Address the various learning styles of students.
• Implement strategies to promote quality student performance.
• Follow individual program plans for students with special needs.
• Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students.
• Demonstrate fair and ethical judgements.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management strategies.
• Display problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Use instructional time as outlined by the lesson plan.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
