Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a substitute paraeducator to be assigned daily based on staff absences. The role collaborates with administration to supervise and instruct students in various settings.

Requirements include a high school diploma and the ability to obtain fingerprint clearance. The position emphasizes effective communication, patience, confidentiality, and a customer-service mindset while supporting district goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, listen actively, and be empathetic.
• Ability to support the District’s vision, mission, and goals including the belief that all students can succeed.
• Maintain a positive attitude and confidentiality under stress.
• Ability to work independently and with others as required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates clearly, accurately, concisely, and professionally.
• Assists teachers by implementing lesson plans as directed.
• Monitors students to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Provides individual or small-group instruction as directed by teachers/administrators.
• Maintains records and performs basic clerical duties to support staff.
• Listens to student concerns to determine appropriate action or referrals.
• Upholds the appearance of work areas to create an educational setting.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
