Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Valid Arizona Teacher’s Certificate.
• Valid Arizona Teaching Endorsement(s) in the subject area to be taught.
• Must be in compliance with Arizona State law regarding standards for grade level and/or subject area that is being taught.
• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must be capable of developing effective instructional programs.
• Strong knowledge of the English language including reading, writing and oral communication with extensive skills in spelling, punctuation and grammar.
• Knowledge of Spanish including reading, writing and oral communication is desired.
• General knowledge of special education curriculum and instruction.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents and staff.
• Must be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical health.

Responsibilities

• Establish a welcoming instructional climate and culture for all students, parents, community, etc.
• Provide differentiated instruction based on individual student needs
• Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned to district and state objectives
• Present effective lessons to students as described in lesson plans
• Develop and implement effective classroom management to maintain acceptable student behavior, safety and productivity
• Prepare or obtain instructional materials in a timely manner
• Instruct students individually or in small groups to help mastery of objectives
• Collaborate with special education staff, admin, and teams as needed to support instruction
• Participate in Child Study process
• Participate in grade level/subject area team planning
• Inform parents about homework policy and evaluation methods
• Monitor and evaluate student progress and maintain records
• Maintain gradebook or spreadsheet for assignments and tests
• Communicate student progress to parents
• Prepare quarterly progress reports and report cards
• Conduct Fall and Spring parent/teacher conferences
• Assist parents with instructional strategies and materials for home use
• Communicate policies and program changes to parents and staff
• Attend staff meetings and school events
• Serve on district/school committees
• Engage in professional development and continue learning
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information
• Follow district policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
