Qualifications

• Valid TN Teaching license with Comprehensive Sped Endorsement for appropriate grade band (no permits accepted)

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments (e.g., stories, reading, writing, spelling, English lessons) to reinforce concepts and IEP goals.
• Assist with classroom assignments, tests, homework, and make-up work to support Special Populations teachers and evaluate progress.
• Set up and facilitate individual workstations and assist with group projects and seat work.
• Monitor students in classrooms, playgrounds, field trips, library, and bus loading to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Escort students to and from lunch when required; monitor cafeteria and hallways; report discipline problems as needed.
• Report observations and incidents relating to specific students to instructional/administrative staff.
• Implement behavior strategies under supervision of Special Populations teachers addressing various behaviors.
• Assist with daily living activities if required (meals, toileting, medical conditions, transfers).
• Maintain classroom routines while the teacher performs other duties; comply with policies.
