Mounds View Public School District is seeking a Social Studies Teacher for a long-term substitute position at Irondale High School. This full-time, M-F role runs from approximately 10/26/2026 through 12/14/2026.

The role requires a current MN teaching license for grades 5-12, strong culturally responsive teaching skills, and the ability to communicate effectively while employing diverse learning strategies. The substitute earns $240.00 to $293.00 per day with pro-rated leave benefits.

Qualifications

• Current MN teaching license in social studies for grades 5-12.
• Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual plans, and test design principles.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including spelling, grammar.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with professional staff to determine standardized curriculum and testing/assessment designs.
• Create, formulate, develop, and implement instructional objectives and activities.
• Conduct classroom instruction and individual tutoring based on teacher-created lesson plans and units; assess student performance and adapt as needed.
• Provide time for students to relearn and ensure a supportive learning environment.
• Assist with educational/career/personal planning and communicate student strengths/weaknesses to parents and staff.
• Build credibility with staff, students, parents, and community through professional competence and effective teaching methods.
