Job summary

Byrdie is seeking an Associate Social Media Editor & In-House Content Creator to join our social media team in New York. The role involves creating, hosting, shooting, and editing video, managing community interactions, and developing new social series across platforms.

Hybrid role—3 days in NYC office with up to 2 remote days per week. Bachelor’s in Journalism/Communications or related field and 1–3 years of relevant experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably at a brand, a news org, or content studio.

Responsibilities

• Pitch daily social-first news and content ideas and translate timely news into social posts or hosted social videos.
• Create original content (Reels, TikTok, etc.) including video editing and on-camera hosting.
• Monitor community engagement and respond to comments across platforms.
• Write social copy reflecting brand voice and guidelines.
• Research daily social trends in beauty/fashion and broader platform trends.
• Brainstorm to develop new social franchises and series aligned with Byrdie's POV.
• Cover live events with the Byrdie editorial team.
• Serve as an extension of the brand's social presence and on-camera identity.
• Pull weekly social insights with the Byrdie social team.
