Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
• Must possess and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the employee practices or must hold a nursing license within a compact eligible state
• Proof of licensure and/or compact eligibility must be submitted
• Must possess and maintain current ACLS and BLS certification
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including exceptional customer service
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other coworkers and the public
• Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
• Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations
• Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all times
• Must have working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical terminology
• Must provide proof of influenza vaccination annually
• Must complete two-step PPD or annual PPD
• Must complete all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASC

Responsibilities

• Ensures continual delivery of high quality nursing care
• Adopts and implements innovative nursing practices to improve the facility
• Maintains a healthy collaborative team environment
• Mentors and strain[s] other surgical staff as needed
• Oversees safety surveillance and infection control tasks delegated to others
• Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing records
• Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications
• Maintains privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
• Assists with supply ordering and clinical support for procedures
• Records patients medical information and vital signs
• Instructs patients and families on health education and disease prevention
• Acts as liaison between physicians, patients, and families
• Discharges patients with clear instructions and ensures clearance for discharge
• Maintains and inventories controlled substances and medical equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned
