Job summary

USPI South Texas Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated PRN Patient Access Representative to join our team in San Antonio. This role handles complete patient registrations, verifies insurance, collects payments, and ensures a smooth front-desk experience.

Responsibilities include pre-registration of scheduled patients, coordinating with physicians' offices, and maintaining accurate MPI data while adhering to HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Experience in patient registration, verification and authorization.
• Ability to type 40 WPM and enter data accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with insurance eligibility and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and gather demographic/insurance information.
• Verify benefits for non-pre-registered patients and obtain signatures.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance at time of service.
• Communicate with departments to obtain appointments and information.
• Balance cash and generate receipts; meet departmental cash targets.
• Ensure EMTALA compliance for emergency registrations where applicable.
