Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is hiring a Preschool Teacher for the Richmond/Rodeo area to implement developmentally appropriate curricula for Head Start and Early Head Start programs. You will collaborate with families, observe children, and tailor instruction to individual needs while ensuring safety and compliance with licensing regulations.

The position requires an AA degree or higher with a valid Associate Teacher permit, English proficiency, and prior Early Childhood classroom experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Head Start AA degree or above required; Early Head Start preference.
• Current Child Development permit at the Associate Teacher level or above
• 12+ semester units in Early Childhood Education; infant/toddler units where applicable
• Ability to communicate in English; bilingual/multilingual preferred
• 2 years of classroom teaching experience in Early Childhood Programs
• Experience with diverse families and communities
• Pre-employment physical, TB clearance, and fingerprinting requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement curriculum goals aligned with Creative Curriculum and Head Start frameworks.
• Plan and facilitate learning activities for individuals and groups.
• Supervise and monitor children at all times.
• Engage with families to support child development.
• Document progress using observation notes and work samples.
• Attend home visits and parent/teacher conferences annually.
• Maintain safe, organized classroom and outdoor learning environments.
• Ensure health, safety, and paperwork compliance as required.
