Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is hiring a Preschool Teacher for the Oakland location. You will create inclusive learning environments aligned with Head Start standards, observe and assess children, and partner with families to support each child’s progress. Requires ECE coursework, appropriate permits, and health/safety certifications.

Qualifications

• AA degree or higher in Early Childhood Education per Head Start requirements.
• Associate Teacher permit or higher current/licensed.
• 12+ semester units in ECE; 6 units infant/toddler for Early Head Start.
• English communication proficiency; bilingual preferred.
• 2 years classroom teaching in Early Childhood Programs.
• Experience with diverse families and cultures.
• Pre-employment physical and TB clearance.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates (15 hours safety training).
• LiveScan and criminal record clearance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement curriculum goals using Creative Curriculum and Head Start frameworks.
• Plan and facilitate learning activities for individuals and groups with guidance.
• Supervise children at all times and maintain safety.
• Document child progress in online system with notes and samples.
• Conduct two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences annually.
• Maintain organized, inviting learning environments reflecting cultural diversity.
• Build strong partnerships with families to support child development.
• Ensure health and safety requirements per licensing and Head Start standards.
