Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) Aide for the 2026-27 school year. The role reports to the Principal and is Non-exempt with a 200-day year and a salary per the Kanawha County Salary Scale (Pay Grade E), commensurate with experience and education.

The Aide assists teachers, works with children in small groups or one-to-one, and helps create a supportive learning environment while meeting WV certification requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; criminal background check required.
• WV Code requirements for ECCAT/paraprofessional roles apply.
• Certification as ECCAT and completion of WVDE courses within timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing instructional programs with small groups or one-to-one.
• Support students to build a solid educational foundation aligned with abilities.
• Supervise bus passengers and ensure safety using provided restraints.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment.
