Job summary

The City of San Antonio's Pre-K 4 SA Department seeks qualified educators to promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of four-year-olds across various education centers. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess development, and coordinate with aides to support the whole-child learning experience.

You will also communicate with families, track progress, and maintain a safe, structured classroom aligned with district policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of teaching.
• Knowledge of curriculum and activities.
• Knowledge of theory and practice of student learning styles.
• Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software.
• Skill in use of classroom and instructional equipment.
• Ability to actively engage with young children.
• Ability to prepare lesson plans and organize a meaningful instructional program.
• Ability to assist children with meals and snacks.
• Ability to assist children with gross motor skills inside Center and in outdoor playgrounds.
• Ability to conduct and participate in current or long-range planning projects.
• Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.
• Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose best solution and solve problems.
• Ability to provide after-school care sessions.
• Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations.
• Working conditions are in a classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Implements early age curriculum that is language- and numbers-rich to spark imagination.
• Plans and delivers engaging lessons aligned to student needs.
• Assesses developmental progress and adapts instruction accordingly.
• Directs teacher aides to support the classroom program.
• Maintains regular communication with parents through meetings, newsletters, and portals.
• Ensures a safe, respectful classroom environment and follows board policies.
