Job summary

Gwinnett Technical College is seeking an adjunct faculty member for Speech/Communication. This part-time, non-benefited, exempt role reports to the Program Director of Speech and involves developing and delivering lecture and lab content, preparing lesson plans, and evaluating student progress.

Minimum qualifications include a doctorate or master’s in the discipline (or 18 graduate hours with a master’s). Preferred candidates have postsecondary teaching experience with diverse student

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in discipline OR Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline.
• Preferred: Doctorate or Master’s degree in public speaking or communications or a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester hours in public speaking or communications.
• Postsecondary teaching experience within diverse settings and engagement with a wide range of student populations are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for specified courses. (25%)
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. (20%)
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. (5%)
• Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. (25%)
• Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. (10%)
• Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. (5%)
• Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College. (10%)
