Job summary

Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic Writing and Debate teacher to provide instruction to middle school students (grades 6-8). This role focuses on developing solid writing skills and engaging students in debate units to foster confident public speakers.

Under the Middle School Principal, you will collaborate with other specials teachers and across content areas to deliver a well-rounded Writing and Debate experience.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching in a middle school setting (grades 6-8) preferred.
• NYS certification in teaching preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans that are clear, logical, and sequential.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Use varied instructional strategies to engage students.
• Assess student progress using multiple methods.
• Maintain positive student relationships and effective communication with families.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
• Collaborate with colleagues and across content areas.
• Ensure students learn typing skills and build their skills over time.
• Plan showcases and student work displays.
