Job summary

The Cathedral School is seeking an Upper School Debate Coach to lead our middle school debate program in a dynamic, equity-focused environment. This hourly, in-person role starts Fall 2026 with a pay range of $30–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Candidates should have prior debate coaching or teaching experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to engage a diverse student body. Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience coaching or teaching debate; MSPDP format experience is a plus.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Ability to work productively with a diverse faculty and student body.

Responsibilities

• Foster a healthy and supportive team environment.
• Oversee all aspects of the Middle School Debate program
• Develop and execute practice plans for weekly meetings
• Chaperone and coach students at debate tournaments
• Collaborate with Upper School leadership to provide individualized help and maintain behavioral expectations
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Organize weekend debate trips, including logistics and chaperones.
