Job summary

Allentown School District seeks a district administrator to direct and coordinate educational, administrative, and counseling activities aimed at improving student achievement. The role involves oversight of curriculum, staff development, budgeting, and collaboration with colleges and community organizations.

The candidate will lead programs, supervise staff, ensure compliance with state standards, and coordinate district-wide initiatives, including special-needs programs and safety measures.

Qualifications

• Masters degree with a major in educational leadership, educational supervision, or a related field.
• Doctorate preferred.
• Eligible for Pennsylvania Principal Certification.
• Five (5) or more years experience in public education, including secondary or elementary school instruction.
• Knowledge of and flexibility in the use of computers and software programs typically used in school administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of a standards-based curriculum required in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Experience in Administration preferred.
• Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).
• Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendents may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develops and evaluates the educational program to ensure conformance to state and school board standards.
• Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers’ activities, and issuing directives.
• Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school.
• Insures proper placement of students within the overall educational program.
• Oversees initiation, design, and implementation of projects and programs that meet the needs of students including those with disabilities.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises the implementation of all school activities.
• Coordinates the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula with district facilitators and administrators.
• Provides supervision, leadership, and evaluation to both professional and support staff.
• Supervises building discipline, attendance, and reporting to ensure district policies are followed.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with colleges, community organizations, and other schools.
• Requests and allocates supplies, equipment, and instructional material as needed.
• Walks through the school to monitor instructional effectiveness and safety.
• Plans and monitors school budget and building maintenance.
• Administers educational programs for students with special needs.
• Reads, analyzes, and interprets professional journals and regulations.
• Writes reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals; presents information to groups.
• supervises extracurricular programs and evaluates these programs.

Education

Masters degree with a major in educational leadership/educational supervision or related field

Doctorate (preferred)

Eligible for Pennsylvania Principal Certification

5+ years experience in public education (elementary or secondary)

Knowledge of and flexibility with computers/software for school administration

Standards-based curriculum knowledge (PA)

Experience in Administration (preferred)
