Job summary

KIPP Miami in Newark, NJ is seeking a dedicated Middle School Math Teacher to guide students toward college readiness. You will develop and modify lesson plans, use data to drive mastery, and collaborate with families and colleagues to support student progress.

The role requires at least two years of teaching experience, a valid teaching credential, and subject-matter expertise in math. You'll participate in meetings and school events, maintain progress trackers, and uphold strong classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Appropriate state teaching certification completed or in process.
• Minimum of two years teaching experience with diverse backgrounds.
• Subject matter expertise in middle school math.
• Collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Create, internalize, modify and prepare lesson plans in accordance with academic curriculum, working closely with the grade level team.
• Use data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills.
• Work closely with students, families and colleagues to create an environment supportive of student progress.
• Reinforce a firm foundation for all classes and uphold classroom management techniques.
• Help with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing across the school.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet objectives.
• Update student performance trackers and use data to guide lesson plans.
• Participate in school, departmental and parent meetings.
• Participate in school events, activities and programs both during and outside of regular class hours.
