Oklahoma City Public Schools seeks a Secondary MS Teacher – Language Arts at Rogers Middle School to design and deliver a language arts program aligned with state standards and the OKCPS model for school improvement.

The role emphasizes lesson planning, individualized instruction, parental communication, and collaboration with staff to support student growth while maintaining a positive, disciplined classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in education or related field required.
• Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education required.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Teaches language arts to pupils in a classroom using state-approved standards.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and subject matter per state law and district procedures.
• Develops lesson plans and provides individualized and small group instruction to fit needs.
• Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Utilizes grading patterns fairly based on identified criteria.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth and keeps progress records.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss progress.
• Interacts with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with staff in addressing health and learning issues.
• Establishes rapport with pupils and maintains a safe, orderly climate for learning.
• Participates in OKCPS School Improvement model implementation.
• Maintains professional competence through district-provided and self-selected activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
