Job summary

Oklahoma City Public Schools seeks a Secondary MS Teacher - Math to create a flexible program and classroom environment, building rapport with students and parents, and aligning with state standards. The teacher will plan lessons, provide individualized and small group instruction, assess progress, communicate with families, and participate in School Improvement initiatives.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in education and Oklahoma Teaching Certification for Secondary Education in mathematics;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education for Mathematics or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Teaches math to pupils in 6th–8th grade, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and related courses.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; provides individualized and small group instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to create a positive learning environment.
• Communicates with parents regarding pupil progress and school programs.
• Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
