Job summary

Segue Institute for Learning in Central Falls, RI is seeking a Certified Middle School English Language Arts teacher to join its mission-driven team. The position is full-time for 11 months (August 1st - June 30th) with a salary aligned to the teacher salary scale.

The ideal candidate will plan rigorous lessons aligned to Common Core, administer assessments, engage diverse learners, and collaborate with families and staff to support student growth and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and RI teaching certification or eligible.
• Meets RI Right to Read Act Science of Reading Proficiency or Awareness requirements.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements rigorous unit and lesson plans with high-quality curriculum material to meet Common Core State Standards
• Sets clear expectations, routines, and procedures to ensure productive and efficient use of class time
• Administers formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices and provide feedback to students
• Establishes and models district’s core values in all communication with students, staff and families
• Demonstrates strong instructional and classroom management skills
• Differentiates instruction to meet diverse learners, including multilingual learners, with appropriate accommodations
• Centers classroom management and student behavior in PBIS and Restorative Justice practices
• Communicates effectively with students, families, and professionals on a regular basis
• Ensures student growth is continuous and appropriate for age and program
• Leads advisory cohort providing guidance, ILP and SEL instruction
• Supports school safety through MTSS
• Collaborates with coaches and admin to improve instructional and leadership skills
• Participates in professional learning, team planning, and data analysis meetings
• Engages in ongoing professional development and training
• Supports daily school operations as needed
• Other duties as assigned by administration
