Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements rigorous unit and lesson plans with high-quality curriculum material to meet Common Core State Standards
  • Sets clear expectations, routines, and procedures to ensure productive and efficient use of class time
  • Administers formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices and provide feedback to students
  • Establishes and models district’s core values in all communication with students, staff and families
  • Demonstrates strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • Differentiates instruction to meet diverse learners, including multilingual learners, with appropriate accommodations
  • Centers classroom management and student behavior in PBIS and Restorative Justice practices
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and professionals on a regular basis
  • Ensures student growth is continuous and appropriate for age and program
  • Leads advisory cohort providing guidance, ILP and SEL instruction
  • Supports school safety through MTSS
  • Collaborates with coaches and admin to improve instructional and leadership skills
  • Participates in professional learning, team planning, and data analysis meetings

  • Supports daily school operations as needed

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Certified Teacher Middle School English Language Arts to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the district’s mission of providing high-quality education to all students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, committed to student success, and capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and implements rigorous unit and lesson plans with high-quality curriculum material to meet Common Core State Standards
  • Sets clear expectations, routines, and procedures to ensure productive and efficient use of class time
  • Administers formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices and provide feedback to students
  • Establishes and model district’s core values in all communication and interaction with students, staff and families
  • Demonstrates exceptionally strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • Differentiates classroom instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners, and provides accommodations and scaffolding instruction where appropriate
  • Centers classroom management and student behavior in PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) and Restorative Justice practices
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, families, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals
  • Regularly communicates with families through phone calls, emails and face to face meetings about student growth and performance
  • Creates, cultivates positive relationships and community with all members of the school community
  • Leads an advisory cohort that provides guidance, advocacy, and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), as well as instruction in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) standards
  • Supports school safety and student learning through a school-wide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Collaborates with coaches, and administrative team to improve instructional, culture-building, and leadership skills
  • Actively participates in all professional learning, team planning, calibration and data analysis meetings
  • Participates and engages in structured and informal learning and development opportunities
  • Collaborates with other staff members and actively participates in training, professional learning, and leading activities
  • Engages in educational development practices founded in equity and access for all students
  • Supports with daily school operations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by administration
