Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a dedicated Teacher to provide instruction to assigned classes, maintain accurate records, and uphold discipline according to the Uniform Discipline Code. You will plan lessons, monitor progress, and engage with parents on student development.

Applicants must complete student teaching, hold an Illinois teaching certificate (PEL or ELS), and demonstrate knowledge of pedagogy, assessment, and classroom management.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Possess at least one valid ISBE teaching license (PEL or ELS) endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of state certification requirements and classroom management.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs and collaborate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction with written lesson plans and objectives.
• Maintain attendance records and class rosters.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and behavior.
• Implement disciplinary procedures per CPS policy and Uniform Discipline Code.
• Engage in professional development and in-service meetings.
• Coordinate field trips or extracurricular activities as needed.
