Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Teacher who will be responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes under the principal’s supervision. You will plan lessons, maintain records, and apply effective teaching methods.

The role requires a State of Illinois teaching certificate (PEL or ELS) and a strong commitment to student achievement, attendance improvement, and collaboration with parents, staff, and the community.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Possession of a valid Illinois teaching license: PEL or ELS, properly endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of state certification requirements and classroom management techniques.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional lessons, prepare written plans, and maintain accurate progress records.
• Apply contemporary teaching methods and materials aligned to curriculum objectives.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about pupil progress, attendance, and behavior.
• Establish and maintain classroom rules and a positive learning environment.
• Participate in in-service meetings, professional staff meetings, and school activities.
• Coordinate and attend class field trips when appropriate.
