Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with communication and collaboration.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for assigned students.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, and provide instruction.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of special education students.
• Participates in development of students’ IEPs and implements IEPs.
• Schedules and participates in IEP meetings.
• Uses data for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
• Uses ongoing assessment to monitor student progress and adjust curriculum and instruction.
• Communicates student progress to students, parents and colleagues.
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Collaborates with peers and staff to maximize student achievement.
