Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with collaboration across groups.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for assigned students.
• Ability to work well in a team and solve problems.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, instruct, manage data and reports.
• Physical strength and stamina to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision and priorities.
• Participates in development of students' IEPs as a member of the IEP team.
• Implements the students' IEPs and schedules IEP meetings.
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet student needs.
• Monitors progress and uses data to inform instruction and program evaluation.
• Communicates student progress to parents and colleagues clearly.
• Maintains a safe, organized learning environment.
• Collaborates with peers, parents, and school staff to maximize student achievement.
