Job summary

High Plains Senior Care in Amarillo, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Home Health Intake Office Assistant to support our growing agency. The role focuses on processing referrals, maintaining patient records, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities include reviewing referrals, coordinating admissions with clinical staff, verifying demographics and insurance, managing EMR uploads, handling payroll data, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant files.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; medical office/admin training preferred.
• 1–2 years in home health, hospital intake, or medical office experience desirable.
• Experience with referrals, intake processes, and EMR/document management.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process new patient referrals.
• Coordinate patient admissions with clinical staff and referral sources.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation.
• Upload orders, medical records, and insurance documents into the EMR system.
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper patient files.
• Scan, file, fax, and upload documents promptly and accurately.
• Answer phone calls and provide excellent customer service to patients and referral sources.
• Track referrals and communicate admission status with team members.
• Assist payroll by reviewing timesheets and submitting payroll information.
• Perform general office duties including data entry, scheduling, and ordering supplies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Provide administrative support to the Director of Nursing and office staff.
