Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a part-time Group Fitness Instructor for our Charlotte center. You will lead land and water classes, design engaging routines, and ensure safety and enjoyment for members.

This role emphasizes community outreach, reliability, and strong customer service in a fast-paced fitness environment. Candidates should hold ACE Group Exercise Certification or equivalent, have at least 3 years of teaching experience, and be flexible with hours.

Qualifications

• Mandatory YMCA trainings must be completed by the required date.
• Proof of ACE Group Exercise Certification or AEA Water Fitness Certification (or equivalent).
• 3 years (300 hours) or more of teaching experience.
• Passion for helping people achieve fitness goals.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated and self-starter.
• Outgoing personality with ability to build relationships.
• Strong customer service and program promotion skills.
• Willing to work flexible hours based on center needs.
• Technologically proficient and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare class routines meeting safety guidelines and exercise physiology standards.
• Engage with members before/after class to build participation.
• Record attendance with target minimums (60%).
• Teach a minimum of 2 classes per week (8/month) including at least one substitute per month.
• Start and end class on time; manage equipment and area.
• Participate in community outreach and branch safety.
• Attend staff meetings and pursue ongoing education.
