Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Part-Time Group Fitness Instructor to lead safe, fun, and effective group fitness experiences on land and in water. You will design routines, engage members, track attendance, and support community outreach while upholding the YMCA mission.

Prerequisites include ACE Group Exercise Certification or AEA Water Fitness Certification (or equivalent) and at least 1 year of teaching experience, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• ACE Group Exercise Certification or AEA Water Fitness Certification (or equivalent).
• 1 year (100 hours) or more of teaching experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated and self-starter.
• Outgoing personality with a natural ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to promote programs and services.
• Willing to work flexible work hours based on center's needs.
• Technologically proficient and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare class routines that meet safety guidelines in exercise physiology.
• Pre/post class member engagement to build member relations.
• Record class attendance and maintain growth targets.
• Teach at least 1 class per week (4/month) and secure substitutes when needed.
• Start and end class on time; maintain equipment and cleanliness.
• Participate in Community Outreach campaign initiatives.
• Follow branch emergency procedures and attend staff meetings.
• Support the YMCA mission and branch objectives.
