Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a Clinical Nurse for the Float Pool in New York. The role administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, and documents care in accordance with policy and regulations.

Works under physician orders and supports patient wellbeing across units. Minimum qualifications include graduation from a nursing program (Diploma/AD/BSN), current NYS RN license, BLS and ACLS, and 1–3 years of Med-Surg/Progressive Care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a professional nursing program (Diploma/AD/BSN).
• Active NYS Registered Nurse license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• 1–3 years RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of quality improvement concepts.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and tests, and documents treatment as required by policy and regulations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ conditions.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care.
• Applies nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintains professional nursing standards.
