Qualifications

• TNPulse and ILP's knowledge are required.
• Tennessee Teacher License with proper endorsement is required.
• Fluent in teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Knowledge of Second Language Acquisition theories.
• Knowledge of Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills (BICS) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP).
• Understand impact of cultural differences on student learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach listening, speaking, reading and writing through core content instruction based on TN Academic Standards and WIDA.
• Instruct English Learners to improve academic performance.
• Be respectful of cultural differences and maintain positive relationships with families and community.
• Administer and develop assessments to measure progress and create learning plans.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and district requirements.
• Maintain safe and effective learning environments and monitor student behavior.
• Collaborate with staff and community resources to improve student outcomes.
