Albany Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Access Specialist I to support fast‑paced patient flow in the Admitting Operations unit. The role blends triage, registration and EMS desk duties in a high‑volume ED environment.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and 1–3 years in customer service or clinical settings, with strong communication and teamwork skills to ensure accurate, timely patient processing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• 1–3 years in customer service, hospital or clinical setting preferred.
• Ability to remain composed in a high‑pressure environment.
• Ability to multi‑task and manage high patient volume.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients accurately in stressful situations for safety.
• Bedside registration including demographic, insurance and regulatory forms.
• Verify insurance at bedside and collect copayments when applicable.
• Support EMS and laboratory coordination and dispatch information.
• Answer multi‑line calls calmly and manage inquiries.
• Maintain patient tracking and complete registration tasks as needed.
• Support downtime workflow and follow downtime procedures.
