Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher-General Curriculum for the 2026-2027 school year at Dixon Middle School in Holly Ridge, NC. You will provide specialized instruction, manage IEPs, and work with teams to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Holds or is eligible to hold North Carolina Exceptional Children teaching license for assignment.
• Maintains licensure requirements established by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
• Successfully completes required district and state professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction aligned to each student's IEP.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal and state law.
• Knowledge of NC Standard Course of Study and related life skills instruction.
• Serve as case manager for assigned students.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain student performance data.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in eligibility, annual review, manifestation determination, reevaluation, and transition meetings.
• Develop measurable annual goals and monitor student progress.
• Administer and interpret educational assessments as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate educational records and required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
