Job summary

Montclair High School seeks a dynamic Dance Director to lead the SVPA Dance Program. This stipend role provides artistic leadership and supports growth, collaborating with guest artists and staff to expose students to diverse styles and professional experiences.

The ideal candidate is a strong dance educator and leader who fosters a structured, student-centered environment with high artistic standards, while encouraging creativity, collaboration, confidence, and growth.

Qualifications

• Experience directing or teaching dance at the secondary or collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of dance education and performance.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide artistic direction and overall leadership for the SVPA Dance Program.
• Plan and oversee rehearsals, performances, showcases, and related program activities.
• Collaborate with guest artists, choreographers, directors, and professional teaching artists.
• Develop master classes, workshops, and other enrichment opportunities for students.
• Support student growth in dance technique, performance, artistry, professionalism, and collaboration.
• Coordinate program logistics and communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and administration.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and appropriately structured rehearsal environment.
• Support recruitment, program visibility, and continued development of the SVPA Dance Program.
