Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a Fleet Dispatcher in Rocky Hill, CT to schedule drivers and equipment, monitor on-time delivery, and optimize backhaul performance. The role requires dispatch and backhaul experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; college coursework preferred.
• Dispatch experience required.
• Backhaul experience preferred.
• Basic transportation knowledge.
• Strong communication with managers, coworkers, customers and vendors.
• Ability to prioritize requests from multiple sources.
• Maintain confidentiality of team member and company information.
• Accurate with attention to detail.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
• Proficient with email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Willing to relocate and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Utilize dynamic routing program to route outbound product.
• Respond promptly to driver inquiries about breakdowns, directions, counts.
• Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations.
• Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments for changes.
• Timely and regular attendance is required.
• Interact courteously with managers, coworkers, customers and vendors.
• Generate revenue via backhauls.
• Dispatch trucks.
• Work in a safe and effective manner.
• Incidents must be reported promptly to direct supervisor.
• Contact customers and vendors about appointments and changes.
• Maintain dispatch and backhaul files.
• Maintain current phone numbers in system.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.
