Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a Freight/Delivery Scheduler to coordinate drivers and equipment for timely deliveries and efficient backhauls. You will manage routing, respond to driver inquiries, and ensure DOT compliance.

The role emphasizes strong communication, confidentiality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment while supporting operational efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Schedule and monitor drivers and equipment to ensure on-time delivery and backhaul performance.
• Use dynamic routing to route outbound product efficiently.
• Respond to driver inquiries about breakdowns, directions, and counts.
• Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations.
• Adjust deliveries and backhauls for changes.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Interact courteously with staff, customers and vendors to support productivity.
• Generate revenue via backhauls and dispatch trucks.
• Follow safety procedures and report incidents promptly.
• Contact customers/vendors about appointments and updates.
• Maintain dispatch and backhaul files and phone numbers in systems.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm.

Rate of Pay

Pay starts at $21.50.

Job Summary

Schedule and monitor drivers and equipment to provide on-time delivery and backhaul performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Utilize dynamic routing program to efficiently route outbound product.
• Respond promptly to driver inquiries regarding, but not limited to, breakdowns, directions, product count discrepancies.
• Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations.
• Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate breakdowns, late trucks and other changes.
• Timely and regular attendance is required.
• Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors in a way that positively affects productivity and morale.
• Generating Revenue via Backhauls
• Dispatching Trucks
• Must work in a safe and effective manner
• Incidents must be reported promptly to direct supervisor.
• Contact customers and vendors regarding appointments, times changes and updates.
• Maintain dispatch and backhaul files.
• Maintain current phones numbers in TMW file maintenance.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
• Dispatch experience
• Backhaul experience
• Basic transportation knowledge
• Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors to the point that productivity and morale are positively affected
• Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
• Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast paced, change-oriented environment
• Proficient in computer usage to include email, word processing, spreadsheets
• Knowledge of computer software and applications
• Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as required
• Ability to utilize equipment for the job (such as computers, cell phone, copiers, scanners, printers, etc)
• Ability to relocate
• Ability to Travel (minimal, less than 10%)

Environmental Job Conditions

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
• Must be able to sit on an almost continual basis and stand, walk, bend, or squat on an occasional basis in a normal office environment
• Occasional need to go in the freezer and withstand freezer conditions
• Must be able to withstand loud noise
• Frequent to continual usage of keyboard and monitor

At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $25.80
