Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) is seeking an Assistant Director – After School to assist the Site Director in leading day-to-day operations of a school-based after-school program at PS 156.

The role involves supervising staff, coordinating activities, engaging families, and ensuring adherence to DYCD and DOE guidelines. This temporary part-time position runs through August 15, 2026 and is in-person, with hours 8:00am–6:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Education preferred depending on teaching experience.
• Minimum of two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
• Some supervisory experience in a child care program or related field of work.
• Experience in education and/or after school programming.
• Good Computer skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective supervision of teachers, assistant teachers, and volunteer staff in the absence of the Site Director.
• Plan and implement clubs and field trips.
• Participate in DYCD, BCS and other training opportunities as schedule permits.
• Maintain student and staff files in compliance with DYCD DOH and BCS policy.
• Assist in the interview process following BCS Hiring Policy.
• Support recruitment and enrollment of students and produce data for attendance reporting in DYCD Connect.
• Maintain compliance with all DYCD, DOH, and DOE regulations.
• Organize parent engagement activities (holiday parties, events, workshops).
