Job summary

Old Rochester Regional School District is seeking an innovative & collaborative 6th Grade Math and Social Studies teacher (Long Term Substitute) at Rochester Memorial School in Rochester, MA to cover a leave of absence from approximately September 16, 2026 through November 9, 2026.

The role requires direct student engagement, counseling, and collaboration with staff, families and administrators to support student learning and behavioral planning.

Qualifications

• DESE special education licensure is required for this role.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct service and consultation for students.
• Use a significant portion of each day in direct contact with students for counseling, planning or decision making.
• Provide classroom and small group instruction.
• Provide crisis counseling and referral when necessary to outside agencies.
• Mediate with students and staff to resolve conflicts that interfere with the learning process.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding student difficulty in the classroom and assistance in developing positive behavior intervention and support plans.
• Serve as a resource person to staff to provide information about behavioral, social, emotional matters which may have significance for student’s program.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators and parents.
• All other duties assigned by the principal.
