Job summary

School District 91 is seeking a Duty Aide at Longfellow Elementary to support supervision of students, assist staff, and help maintain a safe, orderly playground and classroom environment.

This role involves collaboration with the building administrator and participation in in-service training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  • Patient, yet firm.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Able to perform assigned duties.
  • Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO

Building Administrator.

JOB GOALS

To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To enable students to enjoy the group interaction and physical exercise that is an integral part of the district educational program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises students at playtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere on the playground.
  • Takes part in in-service training programs.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is scheduled for 10 hours per week during the school year. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 - $16.39 or $17.19 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour.

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
