Job summary

The Data Acquisition Group is seeking a Durability Product Development Technician responsible for fabricating transducers to measure strain, displacement, and rotation, and applying strain gauges to engine, driveline, chassis, and body systems. You will wire transducers for data collection and troubleshoot instrumented vehicles.

Responsibilities include fixture building, welding, machining, disassembly of prototype chassis/driveline components, and occasional day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years as mechanic/tech; at least 1 year fabrication (welding/machining).
• Familiarity with suspension/driveline systems.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate transducers to measure strain, displacement, rotation and apply strain gauges.
• Wire transducers to engine, driveline, chassis, and body components.
• Install wheel force transducers and accelerometers for data acquisition on vehicles.
• Troubleshoot instrumented vehicles and transducers.
• Fixture, weld, machine, and disassemble prototype chassis/driveline components.
• Day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds to support data acquisitions.
