Job summary

Seneca Resorts & Casinos is seeking a Heavy Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness of the casino, hotel lobby, spa, back-of-house areas and restaurants. The role may also fill the EVS Shift Supervisor duties when needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of Heavy Cleaner experience. You will work in a fast-paced environment, following safety and information security guidelines while delivering excellent customer service.

• Six (6) months of satisfactory experience as a Heavy Cleaner is required.
• Familiar with proper use of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.

The Heavy Cleaner (Primary position) who is responsible for the cleanliness of all public areas and non-public areas according to casino standards is called upon to fill the EVS Shift Supervisor (Secondary position) position when needed. The EVS Shift Supervisor assists in managing the Environmental Services department on an assigned shift. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Maintain the cleanliness of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back of house and restaurants. Duties include the operation of cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment to ensure consistent cleanliness.
• 2. Required to carry out individual assignments as well as working with a group.
• 3. Must have basic knowledge of and work with various cleaning chemicals.
• 4. Assist in other projects as directed. As necessary, heavy cleaners will be required to complete light cleaning tasks such as restroom and floor attendants.
• 5. Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
• 6. Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times. Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.
• 7. Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
• 8. Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
• 9. Attend all necessary meetings.
• 10. Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.

ADDITIONAL SECONDARY POSITION DUTIES

• 1. Oversee operations of Environmental Services including: the cleaning of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, public access areas, restaurants and catering/banquet rooms on an assigned shift.
• 2. Assist with instruction and training of EVS staff.
• 3. Maintain exceedingly high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• 4. Monitor areas to ensure proper appearance of facilities is maintained through use of checklists and visual inspections.
• 5. Monitor inventory/supplies and recommend purchase of supplies to supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:

• 1. Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
• 2. High school diploma or its equivalency required.
• 3. Six (6) months of satisfactory experience as a Heavy Cleaner is required.
• 4. Previous customer service experience preferred.
• 5. Supervisory experience preferred.
• 6. Must be familiar with proper use of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• 7. Knowledge in the operation of cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment.
• 8. Previous housekeeping experience a plus.
• 9. Computer proficiency with office programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and scheduling software preferred.

• 2. Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
• 3. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.

Salary Starting Rate:

Salary Starting Rate: $16.00 Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education. Each position has varying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.
