Job summary

AHRC New York City is seeking Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their Adult Day Programs in All Five Boroughs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 2:30pm (30 hours per week). Pay Rate: $20 per hour. Responsibilities: Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives, promote safety, and assist with activities of daily living. High School diploma or GED required; experience with disabilities preferred. AHRC NYC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives and becoming active members of their communities.
• Oversee safety and health considerations for participants.
• Promote skill development, interests, and hobbies; assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, staff and community agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives and becoming active members of their communities.
• The oversight of all safety and health considerations
• Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies
• Assisting with activities of daily living(ADLs)
• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver, and the ability to keep up to date pertaining to such knowledge, and interpret same.
• Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
• Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
• Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
