Job summary

The New York Foundling is seeking a DSP II to support residents in medical and behavioral settings, providing supervision, health and safety, and daily living assistance. You will work under the Assistant Manager and Residence Manager, maintaining records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, executing behavioral support plans, and promoting community inclusion while coordinating with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma. CNA preferred. NADSP Certification must be obtained within the probationary period of employment and maintained annually thereafter. AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid Certifications preferred.
• Valid NY, PA, CT and NJ Driver’s License with 6 or less points
• Communication skills: effective verbal, written, and technological communication with persons-supported, families/advocates, and other professionals.
• Problem-solving skills: assess situations and develop appropriate solutions.
• Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities: understanding of needs and best practices for adults with developmental disabilities.
• Regulatory compliance: familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards governing residential programs.
• Organizational skills: time management and record-keeping.
• Professionalism: HIPAA confidentiality.
• Teamwork: collaborate to deliver continuity of care and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility for individuals with physical or medical needs.
• Executes behavioral support and monitoring plans and manages various medical needs while fostering independence.
• Maintain accurate service records of daily activities, medication administration, behavior data, and incidents; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Promotes community inclusion and participation in community actions, events, and advisory activities.
• Utilizes approved plans to de-escalate crises and participates in Life Plan Meetings and oversight documents.
• Provides an environment conducive to positive behavior and reports regressive behavior to clinical staff.
• Manages complex aspects of dual diagnosis and attends relevant workshops and meetings.
• Transports individuals to institutions, hospitals, activities, and home visits.
