Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities. You will help with daily living tasks, personal care, meal prep, and community activities, ensuring safety and dignity at all times.

We offer paid training, flexible schedules, and opportunities for growth in a compassionate nonprofit setting. The role includes documentation duties and the potential for part-time or as-needed shifts in the Southport, NC area.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn.
• Reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
