Job summary

YAI is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Manhattan! The role involves working closely with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, maximizing their strengths and ensuring their safety and wellness.

Available schedules include full-time and part-time positions, and the role requires effective communication skills along with a passion for supporting people with I/DD. Competitive hourly pay of $18.00 to $19.05 based on experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must hold or obtain and maintain Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) within one year.
• Ability to meet the essential physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals in maximizing their strengths and interests while providing emotional support.
• Ensures health, wellness and safety by providing appropriate supervision.
• Maintains a clean, safe and organized therapeutic environment.

Skills

Effective written and oral communication skills

Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD

Basic computer skills

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

At least three years of direct support professional experience for elevated DSP positions
