Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Required automobile insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with I/DD.
  • Support in Host Home, Supported Living, and Apartment settings.
  • Provide relief coverage during provider or guardian absence.
  • Supervise individuals during shifts in home and community.

About the Role EP!C is seeking dependable, compassionate, and flexible Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Host Home, Supported Living, and Apartment settings.

Brief Description About the Role EP!C is seeking dependable, compassionate, and flexible Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Host Home, Supported Living, and Apartment settings. This position provides relief and direct support to ensure individuals receive consistent care and meaningful opportunities to participate in daily life. DSPs help individuals build independence, develop life skills, participate in community activities, and achieve the goals identified in their Person-Centered Plan.

Driving is an essential function of this position. The employee may be required to operate an EP!C vehicle and/or their personal vehicle as part of their employment responsibilities.

Open availability is required as there is no fixed shift - Schedule is provided in advance

Shifts May Include One Or More Of The Following
  • 1st shift
  • 2nd shift
  • Weekend - Rotation
  • Holidays or other coverage needs as applicable
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respectful, compassionate, and person-centered support to individuals with I/DD.
  • Support individuals in Host Home, Supported Living, and Apartment settings.
  • Provide relief coverage when Host Home providers or guardians are away.
  • Supervise and support individuals throughout assigned shifts in the home and community.
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, grooming, toileting, eating, and transferring when necessary.
  • Promote independence through natural learning opportunities and hands-on teaching of independent living skills.
  • Support individuals in making choices and participating in activities that reflect their interests, preferences, and goals.
  • Assist individuals with maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly home environment.
  • Identify and report needed repairs, modifications, or safety concerns.
  • Provide transportation using an EP!C vehicle or personal vehicle as required.
  • Support individuals in accessing community activities, appointments, employment, recreation, and other meaningful opportunities.
  • Participate in leisure activities such as exercise, reading, hobbies, social activities, and community outings.
  • Serve as a positive role model while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Recognize individual differences and adapt communication, teaching, and interaction styles to meet individual needs.
  • Advocate for individuals and support their rights, choices, relationships, and participation in the community.
  • Ensure the civil, human, and legal rights of individuals are respected at all times.
  • Follow and implement each individual's Person-Centered Plan and Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Monitor progress toward individual goals and document services and outcomes accurately.
Requirements
  • Must Be at least 18 Years Old

  • Frequent walking and sitting.
  • Regular standing, reaching, grasping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Repeated lifting and other physical activities associated with providing direct support.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
